NAS is a national not-for-profit organisation with its membership comprising of distinguished Fellows who are elected through a highly competitive process. NAS, with its combination of expertise and independence, is uniquely positioned to bring scientific knowledge to bear on the policies/strategic direction of the country and is also dedicated to the development and advancement of science, technology, and innovation in Nigeria.

How the RISA Fund grant will be used

The project aims to identify challenges in the research landscape in Nigeria and formulate strategies to address them (i.e. Stakeholder workshops, mentorship program). Its priorities for its work in Nigeria include capacity building for research institutions, training and mentoring of post graduate researchers, creating a dynamic research and innovation ecosystem and to support the creation of a dedicated national research policy.
